- This Wikipedia-page biopic races through the rapper's Major Life Events without ever getting to grips with the real questions.
- The film's director, Benny Boom, is best known for music videos, but he's done something remarkable here: He's taken a legend and made him into a man.
- Shipp Jr. fails to capture Pac's multiplicity, much less portray the depth of his talent.
- The last 20 minutes or so of the film try desperately to create drama out of an ending we all already know, milking every moment for maximum ominousness.

There's a lot of nostalgia, but few revelations; for the unfamiliar, it's probably a pretty decent introduction.New York Magazine/Vulture

All Eyez on Me is rarely more than a faithful adaptation of the rapper's Wikipedia entry, so fixated on name-checking every footnote of Shakur's public life that there is no space to explore the experience of the man himself.- All Eyez on Me is one of the most useless music biopics ever made-it'll be too confusing for newcomers and too underwhelming for those familiar with the work and the life of rap prophet Tupac Shakur.
- A lumbering, illustrated hagiography of the slain rap phenom Tupac Shakur that, in its efforts to exalt and exonerate the man, reduces him to a strangely passive figure: a sweet, goodhearted, brilliant kid to whom bad things keep happening.
- It's a relatively straightforward biopic using conventional framing devices (including the liberal use of flashbacks) to tell the story of an extraordinary artist who overcame tremendous odds to become an American icon.
- As for the people banking on Tupac getting his own Straight Outta Compton-level movie, well - we ain't mad at cha, All Eyez on Me. Just majorly disappointed.
- A by-the-numbers biopic that trades on the worst clichs of the hip-hop world (that is, drugs, bling and a preoccupation with women's butts that puts the Fast and Furious franchise to shame).
- Although All Eyez on Me occasionally dips into Tupac's complex nature, it always zips away the moment deeper motivations and themes are explored.
- It's a slipshod movie convinced you're either too enamored to want anything besides an attention-deficit-disorder gloss over Shakur's accomplishments, or too dazzled by its startling-lookalike lead to care whether Shakur is given dimension or not.
- A ploddingly pedestrian dramatization of Tupac Shakur's brief, tumultuous life.
- [A] messy, hugely flawed, but fascinating biographical drama ...
- Not only a clumsy and often bland account of his life and work, but it also gives little genuine insight into his thought, talent or personality.
- A badly botched biopic that won't earn Shakur any new fans and will disappoint the ones he has.
- Tupac fans won't need a reason for watching this movie. But if you are wondering whether it does justice to the beloved artist, then yes it does and you must not miss.

For most of the 140 minute running time the film plays like a bio-pic suffering from ADD -- unable to focus on elements of Shakur's life that could have given more insight to his legacy.- Legends never die. The legacy also doesn't but there's sadly nothing here to further it.
